Traditional Birthing Assistants are given training by KWO. They also provide all new mothers with a baby kit. It includes a few basics to help women get started with a new baby.
KWO staff and leaders often have to walk long distances to get to villages and townships within Karen State. The weeks of walking are our only way to talk directly to the Karen living there about important issues in our community.
KWO provides “Baby Kits” to new mothers in Karen State. The kits help ease the first year of having a new child by provided nappies, soap, laundry powder, a new sarong, among other things. KWO leaders also provide education about caring for a newborn when the kit is delivered.
