KWO is so proud of the recent graduates from the Karen Young Women Leadership School!
The 17th group of students graduated at a ceremony this weekend. Guests from community school, community organisations attended as well as Dr. T Than Pyar College representatives. Speeches from the KWO leader and KNU leader took place and students were presented with a certificate and small gift.
KWO established the KWYLS in 2001 to appeal to young women interested in working for organisations in their communities. The school provides the students with the skills to do so. We believe in women-led leadership and the importance of young women learning about women’s rights and democracy. The school covers all of these subjects during this project year and exposes the young women to a wide variety of community situations and organizations in order to help them understand the many things happening in our community.
